New Grad 90-Day Survival plan
The 90-Day New Grad 90-Day Survival Package is designed to help you feel supported as you transition from nursing school to real-life bedside practice. You will have direct access through WhatsApp or email whenever you need quick answers, guidance, or a little encouragement during tough shifts.
In Month 1: Survive, we focus on getting through the hardest part of the transition. We work on time management, communicating with your team, and making it through orientation with more confidence. These are the skills that help you get organized and feel less overwhelmed at the start.
In Month 2: Stabilize, we build on that foundation by focusing on clinical judgment, patient assessment, and becoming more confident on the floor. This is often the stage where new nurses start putting the pieces together, but it can still feel challenging, so we spend time strengthening those areas.
In Month 3: Thrive, the goal is to help you grow into your role with more confidence and independence. We talk about owning your nursing practice, speaking up for your patients, and thinking ahead about your future as a nurse throughout the program to help make your transition into nursing practice easier. Examples may include a shift prep checklist, a clinical judgment tip sheet, and an end-of-program roadmap - and there may be even more support materials included along the way.
Meet Rhoda — Your mentor or NCLEX tutor
FOR NEW GRAD NURSES:
Hey — I’m Rhoda. Nurse educator, preceptor, and the person behind One on One TIPS.
I’ve been a nurse for over 40 years. And I built this because I remember exactly what it felt like to be new — overwhelmed, second-guessing yourself, and wondering if you made the right choice. Nobody told me what to do with that feeling. I’m telling you now: you don’t have to figure this out alone.
My mentorship is built around you — your unit, your shifts, your fears, your wins. You do not have to be in the first 90 days of your first year. We take you any time in the first year. We meet one-on-one. We cover 12 topics over 12 weeks. And everything we talk about stays between us. No judgment. No comparison to your classmates. Just you and me doing the work.
This isn’t generic advice. This is your first year — handled.
If that’s what you need, hit the button below and let’s talk.
About Rhoda
For NCLEX Students
I'm Rhoda Sommer, RN, an NCLEX tutor and nurse educator with more than 40 years of nursing experience.
Over the years, I've worked with nursing students, graduate nurses, and new nurses as they navigated some of the most challenging moments of their careers. One thing I've learned is that every student learns differently.
That's why I created One on One Tips.
I didn't build this program for the masses. I built it for the student who needs more than a review book, a question bank, and a prayer.
I believe NCLEX success comes from understanding how to think like a nurse.
When we work together, we focus on your individual strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs. Through personalized test analysis, customized study calendars, clinical judgment worksheets, and one-on-one coaching, you'll learn how to approach NCLEX questions with confidence.
One of the core strategies I teach is the One on One Tips Three-Question Method:
Who is my client?
What is the condition or procedure, and how does it affect the body?
What does the question want?
These three questions help students break down NCLEX questions, strengthen clinical judgment, and make safer nursing decisions.
I use Saunders Ninth Edition resources for both RN and PN students, along with worksheets and learning tools I've developed to help students build the clinical judgment skills required for today's NCLEX and for real-world nursing practice.
You are not your study group.
What you struggle with, what makes sense to you, and what you need to practice is different from every other student.
That's why we work one-on-one.
My goal isn't simply to help you pass the NCLEX.
My goal is to help you become a confident, safe, and competent nurse.
You've worked too hard to leave your success to chance.
Let's create a plan that gets you across the finish line.
A Personal Note About Availability
One on One Tips is intentionally a small, personalized practice.
I am retired and work part-time, which allows me to give each student and new nurse the individual attention and support they deserve. I currently meet with clients Tuesday through Friday afternoons, with limited early evening appointments available twice a week.
Because I believe in providing quality one-on-one support, I limit the number of students and new nurses I work with at any given time. This helps ensure that everyone receives the personalized guidance, encouragement, and access they need to be successful.
Typically, I work with a maximum of:
7 NCLEX students
7 New Graduate Nurses
If my schedule is full when you reach out, don't worry. I maintain a waiting list and will gladly contact you when an opening becomes available. In many cases, I can also let you know about upcoming availability and help you plan for a future start date.
Thank you for understanding my commitment to keeping One on One Tips personal, supportive, and focused on each individual's success.
I look forward to the possibility of working with you.
Information about my background and approach
My Background, My Approach, and Why One on One Tips Is Different
More Than Four Decades of Nursing Experience
I'm Rhoda Sommer, RN.
Since 1981, I've had the privilege of caring for patients, mentoring nurses, teaching students, and helping future nurses develop the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.
Throughout my career, I've worked with students and new nurses at many different stages of their journey. I've seen firsthand that nursing success is about more than memorizing facts. It's about developing clinical judgment, critical thinking, and confidence.
Those are the skills that help nurses pass the NCLEX and thrive in practice.
My Approach
I believe every student learns differently.
What works for one student may not work for another. That's why I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach.
Every student begins with a test analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs. From there, we develop a personalized study plan, customized calendar, and focused strategy designed specifically for that student.
My goal is not to overwhelm students with more information.
My goal is to help students understand how to think through questions, recognize patterns, strengthen clinical judgment, and build confidence.
One of the ways I do that is through the One on One Tips Three-Question Method:
Who is my client?
What is the condition or procedure and how does it affect the body?
What does the question want?
These three questions help students slow down, analyze the situation, and identify the safest answer.
Why One on One Tips Is Different
Many NCLEX programs focus on content review, question banks, and prerecorded videos.
While those tools can be helpful, they often leave students feeling overwhelmed and unsupported.
At One on One Tips, you work directly with a real nurse mentor.
You receive:
Personalized one-on-one support
Individualized test analysis
Customized study calendars
Clinical judgment worksheets
Direct access through WhatsApp
Accountability and encouragement
Additional support when needed
You are not just another student enrolled in a large program.
You are an individual with unique strengths, challenges, and goals.
For New Nurses
The support doesn't stop after the NCLEX.
The transition from nursing school to professional practice can be exciting, overwhelming, and sometimes intimidating.
Through my New Graduate Nurse Mentoring Program, I help nurses build confidence, strengthen clinical judgment, improve prioritization skills, and navigate the challenges of their first year in practice.
My Mission
My mission is simple:
To provide the personalized support, guidance, and encouragement that helps nursing graduates pass the NCLEX and helps new nurses become confident, competent professionals.
When you work with One on One Tips, you're not joining a large corporation.
You're partnering with an experienced nurse who is personally invested in your success.I’ve worked as:
A nurse
A clinical instructor
A nurse educator
And now — your guide through the hardest exam of your career
And now your mentor going through a rough time adjusting to a new life/job
I’ve helped students who were...
Retaking the NCLEX for the second, third, or fourth time
Balancing work, kids, and burnout
Struggling with test anxiety or ADHD
Feeling completely lost — but ready to try again
And I’ve seen them pass.
I’ve helped new nurses work through conflict with other nurses
I’ve helped a new nurse learn how to do time management and much more
Let’s work together to build a bright and fulfilling nursing career. You’ve got this!
